Another one of those nights where I scream at the blog. I had many more pictures for this series, but they kept coming up in a different order than I loaded them and I finally gave up with these few. It's bad enough having to load from the end to the beginning, but when I load 5,4,3,2,1 and then get 2,4,5,1, 3, it's infuriating. End of vent.
So anyway the Pitt Street Causeway is a long pier now out into Charleston Harbor that used to be a trolley from Mt. Pleasant to Sullivan's Island. Now it's a great place for fishing and birding and watching brown pelicans at work. They fly all around looking down at the water to see if there's a fish for the taking.
Sometimes they skin across the surface. I don't know why they don't touch with their wings.
Bruce you are teaching me lots hear "Brown Pelicans" I honestly didnt know they existed only the white type just shows you Thanks !!
ReplyDeletePelicans are such a wonderful subject. Their facial expressions are awesome. On a trip to Florida many years ago, I had the pleasure od being out on a long pier where a big brown Pelican was resting on a piling near the end. I took a series of shots all the while walking closer. He let me get very close ( less than 5 ft. ) before he flew away. I was elated at my images. Of course this was before digital cameras, and those photographs are in a book someplace.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a wonderful day. It's snowing like mad here. 8+" and mounting!

Now that is one cool bird. Great series of photo's well done!
ReplyDeleteAmazing shots. I really like the way the wings look in the 3rd shot. Isn't it fun watching them dive in the water like that?
ReplyDeleteGreat series with what you did load! I didn't realize you were posting so much on-line again! I need to catch up! Do you try to load them all at once? I load one photo at a time and have no problems at all with order.
