Another wonderful photography day at Donnelly WMA!
A female red-shouldered hawk was very cooperative.
This alligator, up for the sun on a warm day in January, blocked our way to a viewing spot we wanted to walk to. Alligators do not eat in winter because they need warmth to digest, but this gal had a very rotten red-tailed hawk held firmly in her mouth. A passing ranger told us that she will probably cache it on a bank somewhere and come back to get it in a few weeks when it's warmer.
A friend has suggested two acronyms for those of us who don't keep up well with our PAD, picture a day, blogs. She uses PESO, picture every so often, and POO, pictures on occasion. Very cute ideas!
