It got too late last night to post my efforts at capturing the eclipse, so here they are now. I use a Sony H9, which is basically a point and shoot with some features, and I got some interesting effects.

Here's the basic moon about half way eclipsed.
Of course, this is more how it really looked. The above is cropped to 100%.

I could see that there was some color in the part of the moon in shadow, so I used the dodge tool to bring it out.
Made a neat effect I think. You can see more in the larger version you get by clicking on the photos.

It was cloudy so we didn't get to see the moon when it was fully eclipsed, but here it is as it begins to appear again.

This next one really needs to be seen larger. The 'debris' goes way beyond the moon. I don't know if this is cloud reflection, stars we can't see with the naked eye, or just fairy dust, but I think it's kind of fun.For some reason, as soon as I get more than 3 photos up, the text won't show as single spaced. I don't like the messy look of it, but haven't been able to make it stop yet.

  1. Really beautiful pictures. But I must say I like the first one best despite the colors of the others.
