It's still a thrill to see white pelicans here in the southeast, although they are no longer a rarity in the winter. They are such massive birds. If it weren't for a nine foot wing span, they surely wouldn't be able to lift their 16 pounds off the water. I like to think these three are a mother and two offspring, but have no way of telling. They swam by majestically like ships.

  1. Aren't they wonderful?! The large version has such nice detail. I like the egrets in your other post, too. Their feathers are so lacy and pretty.
