This great egret was preening on a pole on a drizzly day at Edisto Beach. Note he's all twisted around, but still standing on one foot! Even though it's only January, he's already started some lovely breeding plumes. There's been a pair of great egrets courting on the creek behind our house too this week. Can spring be far behind?
