Playing catch-up here again today. My birding friend and I went to Bear Island, which was newly reopened after the end of hunting season. We really enjoyed seeing this great egret holding on to such tiny, weak branches so easily with those big feet._________________________
There was a great blue heron standing on an insulater--also amazing, but he jumped off as we approached. A funny shot resulted. ______________________________
We were lucky to see a brief, but spectacular, sunset as we were leaving.
