Yesterday was a day for big birds at a distance.
We go up to Summerville on Wednesdays to go to lunch with Bill's sister and her invalided husband. Right in her in-town back yard, there was an osprey sitting in a tree overlooking a neighborhood pond!
This was a new and exciting yard bird for them! Just as I was getting to a place to get a better view, someone walked their dog by the pond and the bird flew away.

The eagle nest we also saw yesterday is right below this post. I thought if I posted them the same day, the two posts would run together.
Wow...I've never seen an osprey. That's a pretty good set of pictures considering the circumsances! Quite a wingspan.
ReplyDeleteWow! Now that's what I call a backyard!! Nice!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I also tagged you for Mary's Meme on your steenbok posting.
Thanks faithful watchers! Mary, I forgot to say that the osprey pics were taken with my teeny 3x Sony w-90. One of the days I wish I had brought the real camera.
ReplyDeleteA pox on both of you for meme-ing me!! LOL. I'm still thinking.
They are beautiful birds Bruce.
ReplyDeleteVery awesome shots! That was so cool to see him in flight. Great work!
ReplyDeleteI've linked you on my blog!
Thanks Joan and B. I hope everyone starts watching your new blog from South Africa, Joan.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link, B. I loved seeing the hawk you showed today. I still am not sure it's a Sharpie.
