Goldfinches are the most numerous bird we have at the feeders now. Their favorite is the niger seed that they deftly pull through the tiny holes in what is known at our house as the 'thistle theed thock.' The finches are only beginning to show a little yellow here and there. We rarely get to see them in their bright breeding plumage.

  1. You are so lucky to have these little birds in such great numbers. I usually see 2 or 3 at the most. I love when they get their bright colors!

  2. I tried one of those sacks and the goldfinches ignored it totally! Finally the seed rotted. Yours must be smarter than mine. Won't be long before the goldfinches change color!
