Something not quite as exciting today, but just as pretty. This American goldfinch is just beginning to show bits of the wonderful yellow he will sport in the spring. Here in coastal SC, we rarely get to see them in full breeding plumage, but we sure do see plenty of them this way. I have between 100 and 300 at my feeders daily during the late winter. A joy to behold!

  2. Thanks, SP. When the goldfinches start dropping out of the trees to feed on the ground below the feeder, it lookslike it's raining finches!

  3. I liked your deer photo posting from the 15th. I was in a kayak when I photographed that loon, glad you liked it. If you look at my Nov. 20th posting you'll see more of my loon pics from last summer.

  4. Lovely little goldfinch. It must be exciting to see so many in one place.

Thanks for telling sandpiper about the sun prints. I remember doing that years ago. Might try it again this summer.

  5. What a great shot of the little goldfinch. I love the reflection on the water. I am just starting to take some basic pictures of nature in Iowa. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions you could provide.
