Azaleas and blue bird eggs

It was such a gorgeous day today--very clean and clear after last night's storms, which as usual weren't nearly as bad as the weathermen led us to believe.
Lots of azaleas are opening. These lavender Tabors are my favorites.

I have lots and lots of bushes with these weakish red ones too. Not nearly as pretty to me.
One of the main things I wanted to do was to clean out the bluebird houses because I had heard bluebirds singing already. I found one house with an old nest and an old dried egg--probably from last year, which I discarded. But then when I opened another house, the nest was tipped over and the eggs nearly fell out. I put them back right and back into the house. Aren't they just beautiful! I hope whatever critter was after the eggs, probably a raccoon, didn't scare the parents off permanently. These eggs were definitely new ones by feel and looks.

  4. You're right, they are lovely, Mary--both azaleas and bluebird eggs.
But not automated spam comments like the one above you. I am having trouble deleting it unfortunately. I will have to use the weird letter sign in again, I guess. Sorry about that.

  6. Beautiful azaleas and eggs, Bruce. Charleston must be beautiful now with all the flowers in bloom. I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures of baby birds.

  7. Wow. It's this time of year that I become particularly aware of how far north I am. I can't believe you have azaleas and bird eggs already: we still have two feet of snow on the ground and more on the way. Thanks for letting me experience spring vicariously through your blog: this splash of color has done me a lot of good!

  8. Yes, the Bluebird eggs are just beautiful. I wish I could get them in my yard. I try so hard but only got them one time to nest.
